近代西洋画和传统工艺等，精彩的收藏品
展示莫奈、毕加索、罗丹、达利、沃霍尔等从印象派到现代的西洋美术作品。同时还展出鹿儿岛的传统工艺品萨摩烧（陶瓷）和萨摩切子等名作。美术馆位于鹿儿岛引以为豪的最后的武士西乡隆盛的铜像附近。
